Larry Rachleff, conductor Alban Gerhardt, cello
Music Director Larry Rachleff returns for a thrilling program of “Sombreros, Saint-Saëns, and the Sea.” Party Favors, a world premiere by Trinity University composer Timothy Kramer begins the program. Alban Gerhardt, lauded as “one of the most brilliant cellists of his generation,” next plays Saint- Saëns’s spectacular Cello Concerto No. 1. Manuel de Falla’s vivid musical depiction of The Three-cornered Hat follows and the program ends with Debussy’s darkly brooding masterpiece, La Mer, as it conjures images of the depths of the sea and the crash of the waves.

Pre-concert Discussion with David Cho at 7:00 p.m.
