The San Antonio Symphony is proud to announce the dates and titles for the 2008-2009 award winning
YPC programs to be held at Trinity University’s Laurie Auditorium.
All programs are 50 minutes in length. Concerts start at 9:45 am and 11:10 am.
Opening the San Antonio Symphony?s 2008-2009 Young People?s Concert Series will be a performance that explores the many meters in music. Learn about the relationships between musical and mathematical fractions. We will hear pieces written in a variety of meters and invite you to count along with this mathematical program!
Triangles and Circles and Squares, Oh My! Geometry can be found everywhere, including in the orchestra. Join us for this concert where we will explore all of the different shapes found in the orchestra!
The San Antonio Symphony, joined by students from the North East School of the Arts Dance program, will explore the relationships between math, music and dance. Learn about the mathematical elements of patterns and counting which are also found in dance. Watch and count as the symphony and NESA demonstrate familiar dance steps.
Paint to Music Concert
Just as adding different numbers together results in different sums, adding different instruments together creates different sounds! Listen as the symphony uses orchestral addition to create different sounds and colors. This program also includes the winning artwork from the San Antonio Symphony League?s Paint to Music Contest!
