Donate a book to the San Antonio Public Libraries Summer Reading Program and you will receive free tickets to the San Antonio Symphony's performance of Aesop's Fables, on March 21, 2010 at Trinity University's Laurie Auditorium. Bring a new paperback book appropriate for pre-K through middle school youth and you will receive one ticket per book. Therefore, if you are a family of four, you should bring four books to receive tickets for each member of the family. An additional incentive for book donors includes a "Free Child's admission with the purchase of an Adult admission" movie pass provided by Santikos Theatres to support the donation drive.
Symphony President and CEO, Jack Fishman thinks this charitable event is a perfect match for the Library and Symphony: "Music education and reading go hand in hand. No child's education is complete without deep enrichment in books, language and the arts."
SA Public Libraries Library Director Ramiro S. Salazar said, "Community partnerships are essential to providing good library service. As one of the curators of the City's culture, we are delighted that the Library and the San Antonio Symphony are working together to help children learn about the value of literacy and music."
Aesop's Fables is the third performance in the San Antonio Symphony's Family Series sponsored by H-E-B. This concert takes place on a Sunday afternoon at Trinity University's Laurie Auditorium. Interactive activities including an instrument making workshop, an instrument "petting zoo" and conducting workshop with resident conductor Ken-David Masur begin at 1:30PM and the performance by the Symphony starts at 2:30PM. Other Family Series concerts coming up include our Side-by-Side with YOSA in May.
Please, bring a new paperback book to help local children in need and give your children, and yourself, the gift of music and of charity. Information about The SA Public Libraries and their services will be available at the concert.
