Matthew Zerweck became interested in the violin at the age of 5, after seeing a violinist play on PBS’s “Mister Roger’s Neighborhood.” Just as he was graduating with a Master’s Degree in 2008 from the Eastman School of Music, Matthew won a spot as the Acting Assistant Concertmaster of the San Antonio Symphony. Matthew plays in Camerata San Antonio, Olmos Ensemble, and the San Antonio Opera, in addition to teaching some of San Antonio’s most talented students. His professional highlights so far include a performance of Strauss’s Violin Sonata with eminent pianist Warren Jones, as well as a solo recital debut in San Antonio, which featured a world premiere work by Arthur Williford. Matthew plays on a violin by Giovanni Pistucci and bow by Nicholas Maline.
